Sundial Film Festival becomes online event

Usually shown at the Cascade Theatre here in Redding, the Active 20-30 Club of Redding will be presenting its 13th annual Sundial Film Festival online in early March.

The event is an opportunity for local filmmakers to showcase their creativity, diversity, and talent by submitting a film limited to 20 minutes. Submissions will cover all types of film such as action, comedy, animation, documentary, and adventure.

Entries have been judged by a panel of educators, filmmakers, and critics. The panel looked for originality, quality, and creativity. Cash awards, trophies, and medallions engraved with the event’s graphic design will be given in nine categories: Best of Festival, Narrative, Documentary, Animation, Local School entry, People’s Choice, Invited Film, One Minute Movie, and a newly introduced Best Performance category. Runners-up in Best Narrative, Documentary, and Animation will receive event medallions.

The online event Sundial Film Fest KIXE Interstitial will begin with a short film called Friendship Internship. In it, protagonist Robert hopes to find better friends by interning at an organization called Friendship, Opportunity, Goals or (F.O.G.).

Afterwards, Event Chairwoman Abbey Perry will give a short introspective of the film. That will be followed with a 60-second CA locations tour. Le Photomaton “Imagination Man” will be presented next.

The 13th Sundial Film Festival will be live-streamed Saturday, March 6 at 9:00 pm, and will have a running time of 240 minutes.
