Redding tradition comes back around this month

Artistically minded Redding folk will want to be part of the return of one of Redding’s traditions – Arts in the Park.

This one-day festival will celebrate the time-honored practice of handmade arts and crafts, with over 40 booths of items made by the North Valley Art League members. Although the event will be free, the arts and crafts will not.

The North Valley Art League will be joining forces with the nearby Annual Redding Ducky Derby duck drop to present this event. Some genres that will be included in the day’s offerings will be jewelry, art, glass, pottery, and clothing.

More than 50 artisans have registered to participate, and some of them will be directing hands-on experiences for both children and adults. There will be food booths, and Shasta County’s The Old Time Fiddlers Association will be providing music. The highlight for many will be the vintage car and roadster show presented by Rats to Riches. Since vintage cars make interesting subjects for poster printing, local gearheads may want to bring high-quality cameras to get those good shots.

This event is scheduled for Sunday, September 27 from 9:00 am – 4:00 pm at Caldwell Park, which is next door to the North Valley Arts League Carter House Art Gallery, 48 Quartz Hill Road, Redding. The Duck Drop will be at 1:30 pm at the Diestleborst Bridge.
