Redding runners run for money and dash for doggies

Two running events are scheduled for Redding during March.

The first one will be the 50th NorCal John Frank Memorial Run starting at 2150 Benton Drive, on Saturday, March 7. This one will consist of 10-mile, 3-mile, and 1-mile adult and kids’ race along the Sacramento River Trail system.

The 10-mile race will be a Pacific Association of USATF Road Racing Championship. There will be $3,000 in prize money for the winner and an extra $2,500 if they beat the course record.

The 3-mile and 10-mile races will begin at 10:00 pm and finish around 1:00 pm. The one-mile races will begin at 8:30 am and end at 9:00 am.

Registration fee will be $55 for the 10-mile, $30 for the 3-mile, and $15 for the 1-mile. The kids’ run, open to those from the ages of 1 to 14, will be free.

The other will be the Turtle Bay Doggie Dash 5k/10k walk/run on March 21 from 9:00 am registration until noon. This course will start at the Sundial Bridge and go along the Sacramento River Trail. Fees for the 5k will be $25, $45 for the 10k, and free for kids under 10. All dogs are invited to participate with their humans. All proceeds will go to aiding Shasta County’s homeless pets through the Haven Humane Society. The run will begin at 9:15 am. T-Shirts with the event Logo Design are available online.
