Redding is revving up for Kool April Nights—a weeklong event of 50s nostalgia with ponytails, bobby sox, old-fashioned hamburgers, and hot rods.
Cars, music, dance, food, and trophies await the public. The kick-off event will feature the Show and Shines, with rock ‘n’ roll’ takes on numbers from the Monkees, the Beatles, and the Beach Boys.
Classic car owners with vehicles that came before 1980 can register their beauties for a chance to show them off and receive awards, with trophy awarded on the last night of the event. Registration will be limited to the first 2,000 registrants. Roads will be blocked off for the event, as thousands of spectators will be watching classic cars take to the streets in an old fashioned ‘Cruise’ starting at Hilltop Drive and continuing to Cypress Avenue. Tickets will be available for chances to win prizes offered by local businesses.
The Kool car event will take place April 19-27 in and around the Redding Civic Auditorium. On Saturday, April 26, the 25th Dreamworks Anniversary Car Show will present one-of-a-kind classic cars. This should prove to be a great opportunity for car aficionados to have photos taken with their dream cars for later postcard printing. An Asphalt Cowboys Pancake Breakfast will also be held inside the Mega Tent on the concluding Saturday and Sunday.
