Many runners and families here in Redding will begin their 4th of July celebration with the Signarama Firecracker 5K Fun Run/Walk and end it with a fireworks show.
Registration will be $25 and the 5K will be open to everyone over the age of 5. A Little Sparklers ¼ Mile Run/Walk for the little ones will be available for $10. Swag will include commemorative T-Shirts featuring this year’s red, white and blue graphic design.
The event will begin at 8:00 am with the Star Spangled Banner and Pledge of Allegiance at the Red, White and Blue opening ceremony. That will be followed by the Little Sparkler’s run/walk. The timed 5K will begin soon after on a flag lined course.
All participants will receive medals with special medals going to the best patriotic outfits.
Signarama Firecracker 5K will take place at Turtle Bay Exploration Park, 844 Sundial Bridge Drive.
After the run, families can stop by the Sunday Market by the Sundial Bridge before heading home. The market will be open from 8:00 am until noon.
Although Redding’s annual Freedom Festival has been cancelled again this year, the fireworks display will go on as usual. The public is invited to find places near Redding Civic Auditorium, 700 Auditorium Drive, to enjoy the show. The show usually starts around 10:00 pm and local stations simulcast patriotic music.
