A pair of Christmas-themed events crops up on Redding’s early December schedule.
Glazewold’s Family Christmas will return this year. This will be a nightly drive-through Christmas Light Show.
On most Saturdays and Sundays there will be special Character Nights. On these evenings, characters such as Buddy the Elf, Rudolph, the Abominable Snowman, and The Elf in Charge will be there waving to the visitors. Santa and Mrs. Claus may also show up.
Glazewold’s Family Christmas will be nightly from 5:00 pm until 10:00 pm at 4177 Villa Drive from Thanksgiving evening (November 26) until New Year’s Eve.
On December 5 from 10:30 am until 1:00 pm, the City of Redding will host Operation Reindeer. This will be a geocaching-style scavenger hunt in which carloads of sleuths go looking for Rudolph, Blitzen, Donner, Prancer, Cupid, Comet, and Vixen (and Olive).
Admission to the hunt will be $25 for up to five people. Swag will include a letter to Santa, raffle ticket, Santa Story Time access code, a Christmas goodie bag, and a photo of each team. Special family passes ($65) will include hot fudge, hot cocoa, and cookies.
Photos at events such as this often go right to local Stationery printers to be included in family yearly Calendars, or to be made into Holiday Cards.
The fun will start when pre-registered participants check-in between 9:00 am and 10:00 am at City Hall’s front fountain roundabout at 777 Cypress Avenue.
