Serious runners here in Redding will be heading for Frosty Fun Runs beginning at the end of December.
Eight races will be on eight consecutive Saturday mornings beginning at 8:00 am at a different location each week. Short courses will be about two or three miles long while the long courses will be between four and five miles.
Runners in age categories 39 and under, 40 to 59, and 60 and over who compete in the long runs will be eligible to rack up points for the championship race, which will be the last run of the series. The top three winners in each category at that race will get local sporting goods store Gift Certificates.
The first event will be 4.3-mile and 2-mile runs at Lake Redding Park on December 30th.
The second one will be at LEMA Ranch and will be a 4-mile, and 2.5-mile course on January 6. Anderson River Park will offer a 2.8-mile and a 5-mile on January 20, and Clover Creek Preserve will hold one on January 27 with 4-mile and 2.4-mile runs. Fleet Feet Store will hold a Cupcake Run with a 5.5-mile and a 2-mile on February 10. LEMA Ranch will hold another one on February 10, and Clover Creek Preserve will hold one more on February 17.
The Frosty Fun Runs Championship, known for its colorful Frosty graphic design, will take place at Lake Redding Park on February 24.
