All Redding families, whether Irish or not, who would enjoy an evening of Christmas the way it used to be are invited to attend a traditional Irish Christmas.
Tomaseen Foley is bringing his holiday tradition, ‘A Celtic Christmas’, to town. Now in its 17th season, the performance presents Ireland’s Christmas family traditions celebrated in stories, song, music, and dance.
The setting for the performance is a remote farmhouse in West Ireland, which is called a ‘rambling house’. Neighboring families huddle around the fire telling old stories, singing traditional Irish Christmas carols, dancing, and playing the music that was created centuries before ‘The Nutcracker’.
Award-winning dancers (Marianne Knight, Marcus Donnelly, and Brian Bigley), a Grammy-winning guitarist and music director (William Coulter), and a storyteller and director (Tomaseen Foley) will perform to bring the essence of a traditional Irish Christmas to Redding for one performance.
The cast will be accompanied by flute, button accordion, and bodhran (hand drum), all played by Marianne Knight, while the Uilleann pipe, whistles, and Irish flute will be played by Brian Bigley. This year’s production has added a Celtic violin played by Edwin Huizinga. Pictures taken of this production would certainly make interesting subjects for Stationery printing with that old country flair.
The one-night performance will be held 7:30 pm to 10:00 pm this Friday, December 19, at the Cascades Theatre, 1731 Market Street, Redding.Get a Free Quote for Stationery
