Everybody gets to compete in Redding

Redding kids and cyclists can enjoy being outdoors and participating in challenges in April.

Tomorrow, April 1, The Bigfoot Mountain Bike Challenge will begin. This event has been inspired by bikers, for bikers, as they look to taken on Bigfoot country routes. Passports will be available that will allow the entrant to choose three routes in one of the biking categories. Once the routes have been completed, the results are then emailed back by June 1 to be entered into a raffle.

Those that opt to run all the routes on the passports will receive event hats stamped with this year’s graphic design. Younger riders can get special Junior Passports.

The Bigfoot Mountain Bike Challenge will be free to participate in and will last until May 31.

Also, Redding’s little runners up to five years old can enter the Grasshopper Bug Run. Participants are encouraged to dress in their best bug costumes and run a bug-type obstacle course. The obstacles will require hopping, crawling, and running. Although the event will be free, registration is required. Start times will be given at registration.

Parents who enter their little ones in contests like this may take pictures of them in their costumes. These pictures often go to local Stationery printers to be made into notecards or duplicate Copies for family and friends.

Grasshopper Bug Run will take place from noon until 1:00 pm on April 17 at South City Park playground, West Cypress Avenue.
