This year Earth Day will be celebrated with 2024 Redding Earth Day Festival coming in the last part of April.
The free family-friendly event has been created by the Shasta Environmental Alliance to showcase our local environment and to support sustainable practices. This year the theme will be Planet vs. Plastics.
Informative booths will have community groups, nonprofits and government agencies passing out Business Cards and disseminating information about active involvement opportunities, initiatives and resources. Hands-on demonstrations, educational activities, games, and interactive projects will be teaching environmental conservation. Some of these organizations are Shasta Chapter of the California Native Plant Society, Whiskeytown Environmental School and the Winnemem Wintu tribe.
Five local artists have been invited to exhibit paintings with outdoor or environmental themes.
Shasta Wheelmen will be hosting a bike corral for those here in Redding wishing to make this a greenhouse-gas-free event.
Three food vendors will be on-site. Along with the standard festival fare, there will be vegetarian options.
Food vendors at events like this often tailor their business’ graphic design to coincide with the event. These designs are then used throughout. In cases where the festivities are environmentally-related, the recycling of paper products is encouraged.
Earth Day Redding will take place April 20th from 11:00 am to 4:00 pm in Caldwell Park, 3 Quartz Hill Road.
