Pupil from Orange excels at national spelling bee

Sydney Tran, a pupil at El Rancho Charter School, concluded her participation in the Scripps National Spelling Bee's 100th yearly show last week, which took place in Washington, D.C.

She had previously advanced through two qualifying rounds.

The opening two verbal rounds of the competition attracted over 200 children from all over the United States and numerous other nations. 13-year-old Tran was there competing for Orange County at one of the nation's most renowned scholastic platforms.

In order to get ready, Tran claimed to have studied the Merriam-Webster Unabridged Dictionary as well as the competition's exacting "Words of the Champions" list, which consists of 4,000 terms.

Tran passed her first rounds with ease, accurately defining "awry" and correctly spelling "merak."

By coming out on top at the Orange County Spelling Bee and properly spelling "obsecration" at the end of the 14 rounds, Tran secured her place in the National Bee. Sponsors for events such as this one can get their Logo Design specially printed.

Kelly, Tran's mother, claimed that since fourth grade, her daughter has been working hard towards this day. The seventh grader also plays tennis, and serves as a volunteer for a tennis foundation, while also finding the time to play violin in her school's orchestra. She said that meeting new people was the best part of the trip.
