People are invited to join a fundraiser walk in October at Applegate Park in Merced to help support the Alzheimer's Association.
The 2021 Walk to End Alzheimer's is an event where attendees can join together to raise money for those impacted by Alzheimer's and other Forms of dementia. The donation goal for this year is $63,000. Guests can choose between walking on the single-mile route or the three-mile route during the program. Registered participants will also receive a blue, purple, yellow, or orange flower that shares their connection to the disease.
The organizers will be making a few alterations to the event to help participants stay safe while walking. Registration for the activity will be contactless, and hand sanitization stations will be provided throughout the course. Attendees who are not vaccinated will need to wear a mask while at the fundraiser, and all walkers are required to put on face coverings when in highly crowded areas. People can reiterate pandemic-related guidelines to eventgoers by using banner and poster printing to make noticeable reminders.
The walk will occur on Saturday, October 2 and will begin at 9:30 am. Registration for the event starts at 8:00 am. Participants have the option of forming a new team, joining a current team, or entering the fundraiser as an individual when registering. People may also become a volunteer for the event by filling out a form online.
