The First Fridays Legal Assistance Workshop is scheduled to take place in Merced next month.
The UC Merced Venture Lab and the UC Berkeley Law School jointly host this informative event each month. The workshop is designed to arm new entrepreneurs who are low on funds with valuable legal information provided by Practicum attorneys and student teams in comprehensive 40-minute sessions.
Those who are starting their own businesses can sign up for the event online at no cost.
The Merced Legal Assistance Workshop breaks down the often complicating legal aspects that surround self-employed work. Topics that will be explored include managing contracts, hiring interns, working with contractors, gaining employees, registering as a business or self-employed individual, regulatory issues, and risk management. The hosts of similar educational events frequently utilize printing services as an efficient way to distribute physical, informative materials to the attending students.
If participants have more complex questions regarding advanced tax issues, litigation, bankruptcy, real estate, or patents, event organizers will refer them to locally based attorneys. All information attendees relate during the event is entirely confidential.
This event is set to occur on Friday, November 6 at the UC Merced Venture Lab. The workshop takes place over two separate sessions from 11:15 am to 12:45 pm, and again from 2:15 pm to 3:45 pm.
