This September, the California city of Merced will play host to the California Republic Coimc-Con (CRCC for short) for the third year running.
With spandex-clad superheroes and science fiction series still dominating the silver screen, comic conventions big and small are starting to move out of the fringes and into a cultural hub. CRCC is not nearly as big as the Hollywood-embraced convention in San Diego, but fans may find a tight-knit atmosphere, deals on hard-to-find merchandise, or just a chance to trot out a new costume.
Among the featured events will be an outdoor concert series, a miniature film festival, and a vendors’ room where attendees might find anything from custom art to retro Promotional Products. While the full program is yet to be announced, past conventions have had costume contests and video game tournaments. Guests will include Hollywood actor Eric Roberts, voice actress Kira Buckland, and comics writer Thomas Yeates.
The key to running a local convention such as CRCC is building a loyal following over the years, as well as getting the word out in a crowded fandom landscape. Such conventions often use local poster printing as well as social media to advertise.
CRCC is organized by Colossus Girl Entertainment, a company that hosts similar-sized conventions in cities like Meadowlark. The 2018 edition of the convention will take place on September 15 at the Merced County Fairgrounds.Get a Free Quote for Promotional Products
