Merced to give class on human trafficking awareness

The Valley Crisis Center will hold a course in Merced that raises awareness for human trafficking and teaches people how to recognize the issue.

Human Trafficking Basics is a class where members of the community can become more familiar with the Signs of human trafficking and discover what they can do to help victims. The event helps raise awareness for the crime and educates students about how Merced County has been impacted by human trafficking. Light refreshments will be provided to all attendees. There are four identical classes on the topic that people can choose from.

The Valley Crisis Center of Merced County is an organization that was formed in 2008 to respond to and combat domestic violence and other abusive situations in the community. The programs offered at the center give people proper intervention training. Many types of programs can be found at the center, like UC Merced CARE and the Close to Home Project. The organization can be hired to give speeches on topics such as sexual assault and partner abuse.

The lesson on human trafficking will be available on January 10, January 17, January 24, and January 31. Each session will begin at 6:00pm. There is no cost for people to attend the Valley Crisis Center’s event, though advance registration is required. Organizations in charge of these informative events can use brochure printing to make custom learning materials for their students.
