Merced organization to give away paint

Local stores and homes may attend a paint giveaway event in June at the ACTEnviro Transfer Station in Merced.

The Free Paint Giveaway Event is a program created by the group PaintCare where people and businesses can pick up useable recycled paint. The giveaway is part of a cross-California paint stewardship initiative and is intended to provide locals with a cost-effective method of managing unwanted paint. During the program, guests can browse partially filled containers of various types of paints, stains, and primers. Attendees are permitted to take a maximum of 25 gallons of paint.

PaintCare Inc. is a non-profit organization that was established in 2009 to help households and businesses appropriately discard their leftover paints. The program was created by the American Coatings Association and has been launched in several states, including Colorado, New York, and Rhode Island. Since forming, the group has collected more than 57 million gallons of paint and hosted over 270 drop-off events. The organization has also won awards like the ASAE ‘Power of A’ Gold Award.

The paint giveaway event will be on Saturday, June 18 from 8:00 am to noon. The paint will be distributed to visitors on a first come, first served basis. Those who partake in the program are expected to follow local and state COVID guidelines. Community giveaways such as this may be promoted to local households with Flyers made through printing services.
