Meal highlights local food culture

The Merced Feast is taking place downtown for two days next month.

Presented by the Merced Certified Farmers Market, the Downtown Neighborhood Association, California Women for Ag, Merced College, and the Merced Main Street Association, the feast consists of two events – the Feast Dinner and a concert.

The Feast Dinner will be held downtown from 6:30 to 9:00 PM. It will feature a farm-to-table multi-course meal of produce that is in season and local. Several local dignitaries and celebrities will also be in attendance. To start the evening, appetizers will be served; they will be prepared by 4H members and local vocational food students. Musical entertainment will be provided by Seventeen.

The next night will feature a concert in Bob Hart Square beginning at 6:00 PM, at which the band Crashboat will be performing. Attendees are encouraged to bring a picnic and blankets. Admission is free of charge.

Events like this are a way for Merced residents to develop an interest in only purchasing and eating food that is grown locally. To help advertise such events, local Stationery printers frequently provide Flyers and other marketing materials.

The Merced Feast will take place from September 19 to 20. For more information and to find out the price of tickets for the Feast Dinner, contact the Merced Main Street Association at 209-384-7093.
