Festival to benefit animal welfare

A festival to benefit a non-profit animal shelter in Merced will be held next month. Locals of all ages are invited to attend the event.

The first annual Woofstock festival will feature vendors, food trucks, local craft beers, and live music. Raffle tickets will be sold for $25 each or $100 for five entries. Two grand prizes include a big screen television, and two-night safari in Monterey County with Visionquest. All proceeds from the sale of raffle tickets will be in benefit of New Beginnings of Merced County Animals.

Vendors may sell merchandise and distribute Brochures and Promotional Products at the event. All merchants are welcome, including vendors with pet-related merchandise including food, leashes and beds. Interested retailers should email Kara Parle at kparle@hotmail.com. Local vendors are also asked to support the event by donating raffle prizes and gift baskets.

New Beginnings for Merced County Animals is a non-profit organization that organizes foster homes for displaced animals in the area. The group is made up of volunteers in the community and operates without a facility. New Beginnings also offers low-cost vaccinations for pet owners, and helps control the unwanted pet population through their spay and neuter program.

Woofstock raffle tickets will be sold in advance of the festival, in Merced at London Properties and the CYCB Real Estate Department. They will also be available at the Transcounty Title locations in Merced, Atwater, and Los Banos.

Woofstock will be held on Saturday, September 25, from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM, at the Castle Air Museum, located at 5050 Santa Fe Drive in Atwater. Admission to the festival is free.
