Charitable organization to help reduce smog in Merced

Valley Clean Air Now will hold an event in June at the Merced County Fairgrounds to help people reduce their smog output.

The Tune In & Tune Up Event is a community program where car owners can see if they need to reduce the emissions coming from their vehicles. Participants may go to the event venue to take the organizer’s smog test to see if they require smog-related repairs. Those who need the repairs will be given a $500 voucher to use at one of the auto shops affiliated with the organizers.

Valley Clean Air Now is a public charity that wishes to improve the air quality of California’s San Joaquin Valley, a region infamous for its air emissions. The group helps reduce local smog and lower transportation costs by providing vehicle repairs to those in disadvantaged communities. Many counties are served by the organization, including San Joaquin County, Fresno County, and Stanislaus County. The group also created the Drive Clean program to help people swap their cars for more environmentally friendly vehicles.

The smog repair event will be on Saturday, June 24 from 8:00 am to noon. The activity is free, and all community members may go to the program. No diesel vehicles are allowed at the event, and attendees should expect to wait two or more hours for their cars to be inspected. These types of programs can be promoted to local neighborhoods with flyer printing services.
