Business development center in Merced to offer webinar series

The Central California branch of the Small Business Development Center in Merced will hold a webinar series for aspiring restaurant owners.

The Blueprint for Restaurant Success is a multi-part series that teaches students the fundamentals of operating a food business. The lessons are taught by Celeste Young-Ramos, an advisor from the Small Business Development Center who has experience as a restaurant owner and consultant. She also has experience with large-scale multi-unit restaurant operations. There will be eight courses that students can attend in the food business success series.

Many topics will be covered throughout the online course. The first session will cover if starting a restaurant business is right for those in the class, and the second lesson will teach students how to budget and project restaurant financials. Webinar attendees can also learn about how to calculate food costs, important labor laws, and the proper supervisor mindset to have for small-scale restaurant owners. The series will conclude with a lesson on marketing food businesses.

The program will be held from April 4th to May 23rd, and each course will last from 2:00 pm to 3:30 pm. There is no cost for people to register for the webinars, though registration is required to attend the classes. Business development organizations that offer similar programs to this may use flyer printing to help advertise their educational activities to the community.
