Alzheimer's Association to host walk in Merced

A fundraising event for the Alzheimer's Association will come to Merced in October at Applegate Park.

The 2024 Walk to End Alzheimer's is a fundraising program where the community can support the Alzheimer's Association's research efforts and services. The goal of the event is to raise $75,000 for the nonprofit organization. Participants may walk for one or three miles, and all registered attendees will receive a Promise Garden flower. Strollers are allowed at the walk, though the organizers discourage using skateboards, bikes, and scooters.

Those interested in helping the Alzheimer's Association with its fundraiser can become volunteers for this year's walk. People can assist with the Thank You Brigade, Promise Garden, and Cheer Station. There are also volunteer roles for greeting attendees, helping with registrations, and taking photos at the walk. The organization has positions available on the Walk to End Alzheimer's Committee for branches like Community Engagement and Event Logistics. The event's volunteer coordinator is Laura Martin.

The program will be on Saturday, October 5 at 9:00 am. Registration begins at 8:00 am, and the group walk will start at 9:30 am. People can join a team or register individually for the fundraiser. Participants must raise $100 or more to qualify for a commemorative shirt. Nonprofits that hold similar annual walks for important causes may use flyer printing to market their fundraisers.
