Sun shines for annual festival

While the weekend of September 21 and 22 started with rain, the clouds eventually parted and the sun shone down on the 18th Annual Lafayette Art, Wine, and Music Festival. This was surely a big relief to festival attendees, since the event was considered the place to be for the weekend. It is one of the biggest festivals in Contra Costa County, and over 100,000 people were expected to attend.

Held every year on the third weekend in September, attendees browsed through over 250 booths featuring artists and craftsmen at this year’s event, sampled fare from 18 of Lafayette’s finest restaurants, and sipped selections of wine and beer, all whilst enjoying a continuous line-up of exciting musical acts on four stages.

All the bands that performed at the festival were also competing for a Battle of the Bands prize, and attendees were able to vote for their favorite bands via text message. All attendees who voted for a band were automatically entered into a contest to win Gift Certificates of $100 to local restaurants. The winners have not yet been announced, but they are expected to be posted on the Lafayette Chamber of Commerce’s Twitter feed before the end of the week.

For families with children, there was also a special Kids Zone, featuring a rock climbing wall, bounce house, and wading pool with kid-sized zorb balls.

Even established community events need good promotion, and a local printing company is the ideal partner for creating dynamic promotional materials. A high-quality flyer can set the right tone for an event long before the first attendee walks through the gate.
