Santa to visit Lafayette for special holiday celebration

Children of all ages in Lafayette are not pouting much these days as none other than Santa Claus is set to visit at the upcoming It's A Wonderful Life holiday celebration.

This family-friendly, free event is a holiday tradition in Lafayette. It begins with a parade where Santa will be travelling from Golden Gate Way at the Lafayette Historical Society to Lafayette Plaza Park.

Traditionally, Santa travels on a bright-red antique fire truck named “Old Betsy”, which is the city's original fire engine – a 1919 Ford Model T. He is accompanied by a police escort and Lafayette's own Town Hall Elves.

Once Santa arrives at the park, there will be a ceremony where a Christmas tree will be lit, and there will also be live entertainment featuring local talent, sing-alongs and free hot chocolate and food for sale.

The event is put on by the Lafayette Chamber of Commerce, and is sponsored by The Dana Green Team, a local realtor, and Branagh Development.

Holiday events are important opportunities for sponsors and businesses to make a connection with the public at a festive time of the year. Print shops can provide Graphic Design Services to create unique and creative holiday advertisements.

Attendees are asked to bring a nonperishable food item for the Food Bank of Contra Costa and Solano, which helps feed more than 178,000 people in the area every month.

The Lafayette It's A Wonderful Life holiday celebration takes place Friday, December 6 from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm at Lafayette's Plaza Park, at the corner of Mt. Diablo Blvd. and Moraga Road.
