Library rewards locals with free literary festival

The Lafayette Library and Learning Center gave the community a big thank you with its Fifth Anniversary Literary Festival earlier this month.

On Sunday, November 2, the local library held a free event designed for all the family. The bookseller for the event was Orinda Books, a local business, which donated part of its proceeds from books purchased at the festival. Those monies are to be used to support programs that are not fully funded by taxpayer dollars.

According to the library, however, the purpose of the event was not to raise money but to thank the community for its past support. While a variety of authors were on hand to sign and sell books, the library had much more to offer in the way of displays and activities provided by the Lindsay Wildlife Museum and Saint Mary’s College; each of which are library consortium partners.

Promoting and sharing the Lafayette Libraries diversity of programs is an example of where flyer and poster printing companies can really make a difference in gaining attention within the community.

Food trucks were on hand for those attendees who felt the need for sustenance during the event. Dominant 7, a group of local jazz musicians, entertained guests as they wandered through the four-hour festival, going from drawing and writing workshops to author presentations.
