Lafayette runners raising money for local schools

Hundreds of runners are warming up for one of the largest community events of the year in Lafayette, and one of the most important funding events for area schools.

The 2019 Lafayette Res Run for Education attracts runners of all ages and walks of life, and has become of the most popular family-friendly events of the year. Last year, more than 600 people took part in the 5K run alone.

There are three different events to cater to all levels of fitness and ability. The most challenging is a 10-kilometer run for serious athletic runners that winds around the Lafayette Reservoir. There is also a 5K run that is also timed for competitive athletes, and an untimed two-mile run/walk for fun. There is also a special “Stroller Patrol” for parents and grandparents who want to walk their babies in their strollers.

The run is coupled with the Healthy Lifestyles Fair, with vendors, healthy snacks, and games to raise awareness about the importance of regular exercise and healthy diets.

The event is sponsored by the Lafayette Chamber of Commerce and the City of Lafayette. Last year’s Res Run for Education raised more than $24,500 for local elementary, middle, and high schools.

Organizers and sponsors for events such as these can use Print services as they offer many ways to promote community events.

The 2019 Lafayette Res Run for Education takes place Sunday, October 20. The starting line is on Mt. Diablo Blvd. at Oak Hill Rd. Onsite registration begins at 6:30 am. and runners’ warm-up begins at 7:40 am.
