American Heart Month will be celebrated by communities such as Lafayette by participating in the East Bay Pioneers 5K race. The event is open for a month, so registrants can choose their own day.
Fellow pioneers will have the opportunity to lace up the running shoes, stretch, and join in. The family-friendly event welcomes students, adults, residents, and guests to run or walk the 5K. The event is a way to engage and support the Alumni Association and Department of Kinesiology. While burning calories, programs at the school can be supported and maintained.
Serious participants can set their personal best goals, while others can just run, walk, or jog while having fun with friends and families. The event is open for participation any time between February 1 and 28.
Using large, visible signage is important to guide racers in the correct direction. Banners are made of sturdy vinyl with grommets along the top and sides to hold them in place. Local Print shops can assist with banner printing.
The race entry fee is $20, and each race participant will receive a commemorative T-shirt, medal, and race bib. Upon finishing the 5K, each participants’ time must be submitted by Sunday, February 28. Photos are encouraged for posting on social media using #EBPioneers5K, and race details are available on the event website.
