Top DJ comes to Hollywood

An artist who has been placed high on various lists of the best DJs is coming to Hollywood.

KSHMR (Niles Hollowell-Dhar) is from Berkeley, California, and first came to notice as a member of The Cataracts, a hip-hop record production duo comprising KSHMR and David "Campa" Benjamin Singer-Vine. Singer-Vine left in 2012, but Hollowell-Dhar continued to perform under the name The Cataracts. In 2014, he began releasing electro house music as KSHMR.

His first single was “Megalodon,” which Spinnin’ Records, his preferred label, released in February 2014. He began to garner real attention with “Burn,” a single, which he and DallasK collaborated on. It debuted on Beatport on its Top 40 chart and finally climbed to No. 1.

In 2015, DJ Mag ranked him 23rd on their list of Top 100 DJs and also named him highest new entry that year. In 2016 and 2017, he was bumped to 12th, and to 11th in 2021. He has performed live at music festivals such as Sunburn and Coachella.

Much of KSHMR’s music is inspired by his ethnic descent, which is half-Kashmiri. He has recently incorporated more of his background by introducing Indian hip-hop music in his 2023 album “Karam.” A concert review says:

“It was an awesome and unforgettable night I mean it when I say unforgettable. . . . KSHMR absolutely killed and was amazing!!!”

KSHMR will be at the Hollywood Palladium on May 23. Shows like this benefit when organizers use poster printing to create advertisements for them.
