Creative music artist coming to Hollywood
An artist who has established a collective is coming to Hollywood.
DJ Joe Kay is a native of Southern California and a co-founder of Soulection. He is currently the CEO and Head of Artists and Repertoire of the organization. Soulection is a music collective based in Los Angeles, serving as a community and platform for fans, musicians, and artists from around the globe. The brand now exists in several formats including a clothing line, an indie music label, and a show on Beats 1 Radio.
Kay got his start in 2007, when he hosted a musical compilation podcast called "Illvibes,” broadcast from his grandmother’s basement. In 2011, he transferred to California State University, Long Beach, where he met the general manager and program director of KBeach Radio, the university’s radio station. That same day, Kay had secured radio time.
The founders of Soulection started it as a blog for the community to platform their arts and culture. After becoming impatient with delays in creating a website, they ultimately settled on making Soulection an extension of Kay’s Illvibes podcast. Kay’s vision for the enterprise was that it would have two sides, a radio show, and a platform to release original material. The initial “Soulection Radio (Show #1) aired in 2011, and their first compilation was released that day.
This visionary artist will be at the Hollywood Palladium on Saturday, September 6, with doors opening at 9:00 pm. When they plan shows like this, organizers often use poster printing to create advertising for them.
