A fan-favorite electronic dance music act is on the way to Hollywood.
Galantis is coming to the Hollywood Palladium with an unusual history. In its first iteration, Galantis was a duo of record producer Christian Karlsson, who goes by the name Bloodshy, and Linus Eklöw, a DJ, percussionist, record producer, and songwriter who is better known as Style of Eye. The two met in 2007 at a Stockholm recording studio, discovered their styles meshed well, and formed Galantis.
The band began to make a name for itself with their 2014 EP “Galantis,” which contained the songs “Smile” and “You.” The latter got significant play at the Winter Music Conference, an annual, week-long conference in Miami Beach. “You” was included on their debut album “Pharmacy,” which dropped in 2015. The album also included two hit singles “Peanut Butter Jelly” and “Runaway (U & I),” which propelled it to success.
Shortly after the release of the album, Style of Eye stepped away from the duo. As a result, Karlsson transitioned to electro pop, which was apparent in the sound of the second album, “The Aviary, released in 2017. The album “Church” followed in 2020 and “Rx” in 2024, neither with Style of Eye participating.
Karlsson has taken over the name and collaborates with other artists. Galantis will be at the Hollywood Palladium on January 9. When they want to promote events like this, organizers will find poster printing methods work well.
