Marcus King is on tour and bringing Drew Smithers with him.
Critics note that Marcus King’s music reflects the pain he has gone through in his personal life, and reflects his recognition of the mistakes he has made. The honesty of his music has won him recognition from the music industry, which has honored him with a Grammy nomination in 2021 for his album “El Dorado” as “Best Americana Album.”
King got his start in his hometown of Greenville, South Carolina, where he followed in the footsteps of his father and grandfather, both blues musicians. He began playing guitar as a child and worked with his father on stage and in the recording studio. A concert review says:

Drew Smithers heard the Allman Brothers when he was 16, and soon after that, enrolled in Chicago’s Columbia College, where he studied music. He joined a blues group as a guitarist and opened for B.B. King. He has worked extensively as a session musician, has composed music, and is now a member of the rock band Bishop Gunn, based in Natchez and considered to be on the way up.
