A Grammy-winning musician is coming to Hollywood with his latest project.
Two-time Grammy winner Joshua Bell will be appearing at the Hollywood Bowl to perform “The Elements,” his latest project. He has collaborated with five of the most exciting composers working today, each of whom wrote one of the five movements that comprise the piece.
Kevin Puts composed “Earth,” Edgar Meyer composed “Water,” “Air” was done by Jennifer Higdon, Jake Heggie wrote “Fire,” and “Space” was composed by Jessie Montgomery. The composers have created a wide range of works over their careers including operas, string quartets, concertos and more.
The program also includes Aaron Copland’s “El Salón México,” which he composed between 1932 and 1936, after several visits to Mexico. He was inspired by his visits to a dance hall called El Salón México, and he used parts of some of the Mexican folk tunes he heard.
The final piece of the evening is “Symphonic Dances from ‘West Side Story’,” by Leonard Bernstein. These are songs from the musical that Bernstein chose to showcase in a different format.
The concert will be conducted by the new Assistant Conductor of the L.A. Philharmonic, Rodolfo Barráez, who was named to the post in 2023. This concert will be his Hollywood Bowl debut.
