Some of the biggest stars in music are planning to honor the late Jimmy Buffett with a concert at the a local venue.
The concert, called “Keep the Party Going: A Tribute to Jimmy Buffett” will feature a starry lineup that includes Sheryl Crow, Eric Church, Kenny Chesney, Jackson Brown, Jon Bon Jovi, The Eagles, Sir Paul McCartney, and other special guests.
Buffett, who passed away in September 2023, had a successful 50-year career in the music business. His devout fans call themselves Parrotheads, a nickname that arose when it was noticed that fans were coming to Buffet concerts in bright, happy colors. It also borrows from the “Deadhead” nickname for fans of the Grateful Dead.
Buffett released some of the most popular songs in history, including “It’s Five O’clock Somewhere,” and the iconic “Margaritaville.”
The star was born in Pascagoula, Mississippi, and became known for his laid back, “tropical rock” sound, which was influenced by his love of sailing. In his career, he released 32 studio albums, nine of which were certified Platinum.
Buffett wrote several Books and created a brand that includes cruise lines, hotels, restaurants, and a Broadway production. His final album, “Equal Strain on All Parts” featured collaborations with Angélique Kidjo, Emmylou Harris, Paul McCartney, and was released posthumously.
