A complete renovation of Facebook’s new campus at the Ardenwood Office Park will create thousands of new jobs for residents in Fremont.
This development is likely to free up one million square feet of office space for thousands of Facebook employees, as a part of the campus expansion project. Some of them will also be relocated from Menlo Park and have the opportunity to work alongside the new hires. The social media giant is preparing to upgrade its main headquarters, including the surrounding town square “village”.
According to Facebook, the reason for building more infrastructure on Ardenwood Office Park is to help reduce commute times for people who work in research and development. It could also help save drivers money on gas and bypass bridge tolls, with many Fremont residents already upset with the heavy traffic delays. The city mayor, Lily Mei, has stated that they are collaborating with Facebook to resolve the problem, considering the housing situation and transportation options in the Bay Area. As of now, construction crews are repairing a dozen buildings located near Route 84 and Thornton Avenue, though no specific date has been confirmed yet.
