Model train swap meet to be held in Fremont

Fremont’s Niles Depot Museum is hosting a model train swap meet next weekend.

Held at the back door patio of the museum, organizer Brian Hitchcock will offer a variety of trains needing a new home, all available to purchase with cash.

Any other model train enthusiasts interested in offering their pieces for sale are welcome to bring their own tables. While there is no fee, space is available on a first come, first served basis.

Though the items will be sold “as is,” participants can test out their newly purchased trains on a layout running both 2- and 3-rail trains. It is an opportunity to not only shop but also socialize with other model train aficionados.

With no entry fee for attendees, the model trains include brands such as Roco and Märklin, and hobbyist Books and magazines are also expected.

With its goal of providing visitors with local railroad history exhibits, including model train displays and dioramas, the Niles Depot Museum features year-round programming. A particular emphasis is placed on the history of the industry leaders who have shaped the Fremont community’s formation and evolution, including the Western Pacific Railroad and the Southern Pacific Railroad.

Swap meets like this may choose to use Stationery printing to create labels for model trains.

The Niles Depot Model Train Event is happening next Sunday, November 1 from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm at 37592 Niles Blvd in Fremont.
