Relay for Life starts its engines in Fremont

The Fremont Chapter of Relay for Life began its 2016 fundraising calendar earlier this month with a car show at Dale Hardware.

Thanks to more than 25 entries, a raffle and a big showing from some little car lovers, the event turned out to be a success despite inclement weather. The first in a line of events aimed at bolstering the American Cancer Society, event planners hope to further diversify their fundraisers as the year goes on, no doubt consulting Print companies for assistance in doing so.

Cathy Norvell, co-head of the event leadership team, stated that registration for the Relay for Life’s walkathon on Saturday, June 25 and Sunday, June 26 has already begun, and that people are already turning in some fairly impressive sponsor numbers.

Additional events on the calendar for 2016 include the April 9 Bark for Life designed for dogs and dog lovers, and Ride the Rails for Relay, which is scheduled for April 23 and will feature a train journey along the Niles Canyon Railway from Sunol over to Fremont, plus a return trip.

Norvell did state that volunteers are always needed and always welcome at each event, and expressed her gratitude for the people who have helped so far.
