Primavera Century routes pass through scenic roads in East Bay
For one day next month, the Primavera Century routes will be open to East Bay visitors for a long-distance trip around historical sites like the Mission San Jose and the Calaveras Reservoir.
The Calaveras Reservoir includes the Amgen Tour of California Routes and is home to the Bald Eagles. On the path, visitors will see trees and vineyards lined up next to the lanes. The Primavera Century extends into the highest point of Altamont Pass, where a series of wind turbines and rocky canyons populate the landscape.
The complete route spans a hundred miles, providing a gradual ascent of 5,500 feet above sea level. Visitors are encouraged to drive or ride on bikes if they plan to travel past Mission San Jose and up the foothills of the Calaveras loop in Fremont. On the way down, they will see the Sunol Pleasanton before reaching the Tour of California roads. They can then grab a bite at Rios Lovell Winery.
Finally, the Century route climbs up the Dublin Grade and Palomares towards its destination at Niles Canyon, featuring several landmarks like the cool Calaveras streams and the beautiful scenery at “the wall”. The Fun Ride is the only flat area along the Alameda Creek Trail, which serves as a wildlife sanctuary.
The Primavera Century is welcoming visitors to experience exercise and fine scenery on April 19. Promotional products can be sold at gift shops for these types of competitive events.
