There are two new operas coming to the Bing Concert Hall in Stanford this Friday, April 12.
‘Theotokia’ draws the audience into the mind of a possessed man and a glimpse into mental illness.
‘The War Reporter’ narrates the Pulitzer Prize winning true tale of photojournalist Paul Watson, who photographed an American soldier in 1993 Mogadishu and goes on to believe that the soldier’s ghost is haunted him.
The operas are directed by Grammy Award winner Rinde Eckert and accompanied by music composed by Stanford professor of music Jonathan Berger, along with the St. Lawrence String Quartet.
Tickets to the event are $20 - $56 for adults, $10 for Stanford students, $15 - $51 for other students, and $10 - $28 for youth under age 18. Organizers could consider flyer printing to make it easy to notify college students and residents about upcoming events.
Also this weekend, anyone who wants to get their head around the new craze for running about in mud about can join the Kiss Me Dirty Mud Run Series in San Jose, a short drive from Fremont.
This particular event is geared towards women of all ages and abilities. Not to be excluded, there will be a men’s only race in drag that takes off before the women competitors hit the field.
