A movie night in the museum is on the way, offering a special chance for people to have fun with classic films.
The program for the Don't Ghost Us This Halloween evening is filled with short films from the 1930s, a period famous for its slapstick humor and innovative storytelling. These movies were made during an era when Hollywood was increasingly embracing comedy. Print shops can be used to make Posters themed around movies of the era.
The main part of the evening is a showing of Spooky Hooky (1936) from the Our Gang series. In this movie, Alfalfa, Spanky, Buckwheat, and Porky are trying to get back a fake note they left in their schoolhouse on a rainy night.
The event will also present Oliver the Eighth (1933), a short movie that shows Laurel & Hardy in their prime. In this story, Oliver Hardy replies to an advertisement about marriage which sets him and Stan Laurel into a hazardous encounter with a character who hunts down men named Oliver.
Another movie in the program is Public Ghost #1 (1935) by Charley Chase, where Charley gets employed as a ghost by a realtor to frighten the current residents into vacating the house.
Closing off the evening is The Live Ghost (1934), another enduring Laurel & Hardy hit.
Don't Ghost Us This Halloween is happening on Sunday, October 13, and it will be located at Niles Film Museum in Fremont.
