Lunar liveliness to head to Fremont

The 2nd annual Moon Festival Celebration is taking place this weekend in Fremont.

Hosted by Citizens for Better Community and the Rotary Club of Fremont, the festival is an annual harvest event celebrated by both the Chinese and Vietnamese communities.

The celebration will consist of a sit down dinner, drinks, cultural entertainment from various Chinese groups and a musical performance by Tim Reilly's Canyon Band. There will also be door prizes and plenty of moon cake to enjoy. As is traditionally the case at such festivals, there will most likely be a lion dance performed.

In addition, guests can compete in the Ode to the Moon Contest, which consists of any moon-related act, whether it is singing, dancing, or acting. Those who are interested in competing should call Lena Zee at 510-421-666.

To decorate venues for celebrations like these, organizers sometimes avail themselves of the services of Fremont printing companies. This may include ordering Banners to be hung from the ceiling or to be displayed outside of the venue to entice people in.

The Moon Festival Celebration will be held at the Prince of Peace Lutheran Church and School this Friday, September 5, from 7:00 pm - 10:30 pm. Tickets are $35 each or free for children aged 10 and under. To learn more about the event, contact Kathy Jang at 510-780-0740.
