This year marks the twentieth anniversary of the town’s patriotic Fourth of July parade.
Fremont residents and others will line Main Street on July 4th to hear the music and see the sights and the floats pass by. The staging area for the parade is at the Fremont Main Library and begins at this point on the Paseo Padre Parkway at 10:00 am. It will follow this route into the downtown area, one mile from the starting point. The organizers expect the parade to take about two hours to complete its route.
Resident and active community member, Robert “Bob” Tavares will be the Grand Marshall for the 2018 parade and recent high school graduate Katie Traynor will sing the national anthem. The parade will include floats, marching bands, vehicles, and much more. At the end of the parade, the judges will choose winners for several categories. Awards for the Most Patriotic participant and a People’s Choice award are among the many titles given out following the parade.
The parade draws in an average of about 15,000 spectators per year and is a popular event for many area businesses. The parade committee is no longer accepting submissions for this year’s event, but companies that want to take part next year can contact the committee through their website to learn more about sponsorship and parade participation rules for float size, Promotional Products, and more.
