Part of the funding for the building came from a 2018 bond worth $275m, earmarked for modernizing facilities in the district. The new building has 27,000 sq. ft. of space and the designers were from Quattrocchi Kwok Architects. Blach Construction just finished construction and handed the site over to the district, which means it is open for business and is ready to serve as the new headquarters for the FUHSD. Logo Design can usually be seen at the entrance for school buildings.
The main features of the new building include top-of-the-line facilities for admin and education. It also has more support space dedicated to students, staff, and faculty. The section that has been devoted to the adult school comes with its own admin space and will offer courses such as citizenship preparation, General Educational Development (GED) preparation, and English as a second language.
The FUHSD’s Superintendent, Polly Bove, stated that:
“Not only does this multi-purpose building double as a modern home for district operations and comprehensive Adult School, it serves as a central hub that facilitates access between our schools, community members, and district administration.”
According to Quattrocchi Kwok, the building was designed to meet or surpass the California Green Building and Energy Codes requirements that include sustainable landscaping and stormwater filtration.
