Fremont hosts art festival

The Fremont Chamber of Commerce is gearing up for its 33rd Annual Fremont Festival of the Arts. The two-day event combines fun in the sun, music, art, and food for a celebration of all the things Californian.

The art itself is carefully checked by representatives to make sure that it is handcrafted and the authentic work of the artist. Visitors can find jewelry, paintings, clothing, and much more over the four-mile stretch reserved for the festival.

For entertainment, the fest will have three stages set up that will all feature live music throughout both days. Additionally, a call has been put out for street performers, so attendees can also expect things such as henna tattoo artists, face painters, and even street magic and jugglers to be present.

At one end of the festival, Banners will announce that visitors have entered ‘Kid City’. It will feature amusement park-style rides, carnival games, hands-on activities, and performances specifically aimed at children. Highlights include a climbing wall, the wacky shack, and the trackless train.

The festival will also have gourmet and business markets, food vendors, and places to get ice cold beer and margaritas. It is estimated that nearly 400,000 people will visit the event and they will drink almost 24,000 cups of beer.

The Fremont Festival of the Arts will be held on August 6 and 7 from 10:00 am to 6:00 pm along Bart Way, Civic Center Dr., and Walnut St. in downtown Fremont. The festival is free to the public. Anyone interested should visit the website for more info.
