Fremont flies high with kites

The Parks and Recreation Department of Fremont is putting together its annual Kids ‘n Kites Festival.

The event features entertainment, food, and ample opportunities for kite flying.

The centerpiece of the fest will be a play area set up for kids and families to play and fly kites. More than 3,000 kites have been purchased by the city and will be provided to children free of charge. The spring weather should provide lots of wind for plenty of high-soaring action.

On top of this, a stage will also be set up where bands and other live entertainment will perform. Nearby booths will showcase the various summer activities being offered up this year, as well as demonstrations of some of the possible things residents can take part in such as rafting and sports.

Food will also be sold by some of the vendors, and there will be carnival style games where visitors can compete for prizes, as well as giveaways where some lucky attendees will receive fun prizes.

The Kids ‘n Kites Festival will take place on May 14 from 10:00 am to 3:00 pm in Central Park in Fremont, right next to the Aqua Adventure Water Park. Admission to the event is free, but there will be a charge for concessions and some games. Anyone interested in more information should check the Flyers or visit the website.
