A total of 20 artists were chosen to create murals to celebrate the 75th anniversary of the Santa Clara County Fair.
Bhavna Misra from Fremont was one of those chosen who proudly completed their work during the fair, which was held August 1 through 4.
The murals were part of the Gateway Mural Project and artists were asked to create their art specifically to celebrate the 15 cities that make up Santa Clara County. Misra’s mural depicted Los Gatos, a city located about 25 minutes from her home town.
Misra chose to represent the city through her art by using the rolling hills as a backdrop, and vibrantly colored flowers and scenes of nature in the forefront of the mural. She also added California poppies and a kitten in the bottom left of her painting as a representation of Los Gatos.
Artists can use printing services to make reproductions of their large-scale art and use it to create graphic design, Letterheads, and Business Cards. Although in this case the finished mural was 20 by 15 feet, artists can also use Print shops to produce smaller sized Copies to sell at art shows and third-party retailers.
The artist has worked for the city of Los Gatos, which is why she was chosen to create the mural for them. Misra used acrylics and house paints to complete the project. She used yellow, green, and shades of purple, which reflect her style of using the cool shades of the color palette.
