The company is called Supernal. It is an innovative air transportation enterprise that operates under the Hyundai Motor Group’s umbrella. The goal is to build a flying taxi designed for individuals to use on their daily journeys.
The head of the research department is Ramona Stefanescu. She commented to say:
"Going from a hub like an airport or again downtown San Francisco or San Jose to Palo Alto or something in between, that can be done in a short trip with an air taxi. Not being stuck in traffic, not spending 40-50 minutes.”
A first-generation airplane is being designed by Stefanescu the team she leads. It would have four seats, travel at roughly 120 mph, have a battery that can last for about 30 miles, and initially be controlled by a person. Poster printing is a convenient way to promote the detail of new services.
Stefanescu stated that Supernal is using modern technologies and manufacturing processes for general aviation and commercial aircraft in order to overcome the barrier of creating a vehicle this unique. The process includes creating the rotors, airframe, sensors, and environment necessary for the air taxis to land and take off (known as a vertiport), as well as constructing lightweight, strong batteries. A significant aspect of this effort involves enticing tech professionals from Silicon Valley by offering them a cutting-edge and inclusive work environment.
