A chance has risen to join other hikers for a three-mile hike to the top of Mission Peak on July 4, 2013. The hike begins at 7:00 pm and ends with an incredible view of the fireworks display at 9:00 pm.
Participants should bring plenty of water, and maybe some hot chocolate in a thermos, and a snack for the fireworks display. They are urged to wear layers of clothing to stay warm, as the peak tends to get windy.
Included at no additional cost (the whole hike is free) is a view of the beautiful sunset over the bay. Up to 12 different firework displays may be available to view from the summit. The trip is over steep terrain, but is not otherwise difficult.
Participants should meet at the East end of Stanford Avenue, and bring a flashlight for the return trip.
In Redwood City, there will be a 4th of July parade and festival beginning at 9:00 am on Thursday at Broadway and Main Streets.
The parade begins at 10:00 am at the corner of Marshall and Winslow Streets, travels down Marshall, and ends at Arguello and Alden Streets.
Activities include arts and crafts, kids’ fun, food vendors, and a 5K run. A pancake breakfast will be held at Fire Station #9. Fireworks will begin at 9:30 pm from the Port. Public viewing will be available off Seaport Court. Please note that alcohol and personal fireworks are not allowed.
Banner printing makes it easy for residents to find local events such as pancake breakfasts and Fourth of July celebrations.
