Sign-ups now open for youth programs

Registration is now open for the 2017 programs in Youth Flag Softball, Soccer, and Football. The programs are held in various parks throughout the city of Carson, and are for both boys and girls. However, the sports are for different age groups.

Girls and boys from ages five through seventeen may sign up for Flag Soccer and Flag Football. However, those who want to play softball must be slightly older, ranging in age from nine through seventeen. The programs are sponsored and run by Carson's Recreation and Human Services Division.

‘Flag’ football follows the same rules as traditional football, with one important exception: players do not tackle one another to the ground. Instead, they score points by grabbing a “flag” off the belt of an opposing team member, hence the name. Using the flags makes the sport far less physically demanding, so boys and girls can play together, and smaller teams can take the field.

The fees are $30 for the first child, and $23 for every additional child for Carson residents. Fees are $45 for nonresidents, who pay the resident rate if they work in Carson.

The last day for registration in August 19, and ty-outs are scheduled for August 26.

In situations like this, organizers often work with a flyer printing company, which can create a mailer for a targeted-area Mailing, describing the activities and listing the fees.
