The International Printing Museum will host a day-long merit badge program designed exclusively for members of the Boy Scouts of America.
The educational session enables participants to complete requirements for both the Graphic Arts and Pulp & Paper merit badges through structured, hands-on instruction. Advance registration is mandatory, and the program is not available to the public.
Throughout the six-hour schedule, scout teams will rotate through 10 activity stations addressing core components of the paper and printing fields.
Instruction will cover offset lithography, screen printing, digital layout, and sustainable forestry practices connected to paper production. Participants will operate an offset press, create a screen-printed T-shirt, produce handmade paper from pulp, and Print a card using antique letterpress equipment. Industry professionals and educators will lead demonstrations and provide technical guidance at each station.
As with many educational outreach initiatives, organizers often rely on flyer printing to inform local scout troops about events such as this one.
The cost is $65 for each scout, with a $6.21 processing fee, bringing the total registration price to $71.21. The fee covers all instructional activities required to earn the two badges. Lunch, snacks, and T-Shirts will be available for purchase at the start of the event. Refunds for the event will be available up to two weeks before the event.
The event is scheduled for Saturday, April 11th, from 9 am to 3 pm at the International Printing Museum, 315 West Torrance Blvd, Carson, California.
