New development rising in Carson

Ground was broken recently on a new apartment complex in Carson that is part of a much larger development.

Officials kicked off the development of the massive, 300-unit housing project known as Evolve South Bay, which is part of an overall project to make Carson a more enticing community.

The new apartments will be located at the corner of Del Amo Boulevard and Main Street, and will have units available in one-, two-, or three-bedroom sizes. Evolve South Bay is only one part of The Boulevards at South Bay, a planned mixed-use project, and the first housing component of that project.

Across Del Amo Boulevard from the apartments, work is already underway to prep the site for the Los Angeles Premium Outlets, a new mall that will offer 465,000 square feet of space for retail enterprises. The first phase of the mall should open in 2021.

According to Al Robles, the mayor of Carson, the apartments and other development projects are designed to bring more people to live in the city, which is currently half industrial. If stores and restaurants are built, Robles believes, more people will consider settling in Carson. In addition, current Carson residents have long been asking for amenities such as more retailers, more grocers, and better restaurants. Brochure printing is often used to develop pamphlets illustrating the amenities of new housing developments.
