The International Printing Museum in Carson is set to host its annual “Book Arts Day for Girls” this November.
This event is designed for girls aged 10 to 18 and their mothers. It will offer them a unique opportunity to delve into the arena of book arts through various interactive and creative workshops.
During the six-hour session, participants will engage in hands-on activities at eight different stations. These include learning about the traditional and modern techniques of bookbinding, making handmade paper, screen printing personalized T-Shirts, and printing keepsakes using an antique letterpress. The day aims to provide both educational insights and a fun experience. The sessions will be expert-led and will highlight the artistic and mechanical processes behind book production.
The event costs $50 for each participant, which will cover all activities. Attendees are asked to bring a plain cotton shirt for the screen printing aspect of the event, or they can purchase one on site for an additional $10. A packed lunch is recommended, though snacks and beverages will be available for purchase.
Advance enrollment is necessary for all to attend due to limited availability. Potential attendees can contact the museum directly for more information or to inquire about volunteering. Brochure printing can be used to provide instructional information to participants at events such as this.
